Si no lo hici\u00e9ramos, necesitar\u00edamos muchos m\u00e1s m2 , y \u00e9sa no es una soluci\u00f3n sensata. Por lo tanto, el objetivo siempre es favorecer el crecimiento vertical de los cultivos. Hay dos maneras diferentes de apoyar los cultivos en su crecimiento vertical, a saber, la rotaci\u00f3n y el recorte. En algunos mercados, como el neerland\u00e9s, el uso de pinzas para tomates y soportes de truss est\u00e1 restringido en la medida de lo posible. En pa\u00edses como Canad\u00e1 ocurre lo contrario. Si no se utilizan pinzas para tomates ni soportes, la planta se enrolla alrededor de un cordel tensado verticalmente. Para esta rotaci\u00f3n se ha desarrollado una t\u00e9cnica especial. Este m\u00e9todo de rotaci\u00f3n frente al uso de ayudas presenta ventajas e inconvenientes. Aqu\u00ed se las enumeramos.<\/p>\n<h2>T\u00e9cnica de rotaci\u00f3n frente a pinzas en el cultivo del tomate<\/h2>\n<p>La t\u00e9cnica de rotaci\u00f3n ahorra costes de material. Al fin y al cabo, ya no es necesario invertir en pinzas para tomates ni en soportes para entramados. La t\u00e9cnica de rotaci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n es m\u00e1s sostenible, ya que los residuos producidos por la rotaci\u00f3n de cultivos consisten \u00fanicamente en la propia planta y el cordel. Si se utiliza hilo org\u00e1nico, casi nada, o nada, de pl\u00e1stico acaba en la cadena de residuos.<\/p>\n<p>La t\u00e9cnica de rotaci\u00f3n presenta dos desventajas. Por un lado, esta t\u00e9cnica requiere experiencia y, dado que el cultivo del tomate es muy estacional, muchos trabajadores eventuales carecen de este tipo de experiencia. Dominar esta t\u00e9cnica lleva tiempo y ello va en detrimento de la eficacia y la rentabilidad. Los empleados pueden hacerlo de forma profesional muy r\u00e1pidamente y, en consecuencia, no se pierde un tiempo valioso. En las regiones en las que hay una escasez temporal o estructural de mano de obra (y, por tanto, costes laborales m\u00e1s elevados), el clipado es una opci\u00f3n obvia.<\/p>\n<p>Existe una teor\u00eda que sostiene que el crecimiento generativo de la planta puede ser mayor cuando se utilizan pinzas, porque las plantas pueden moverse libremente dentro de la pinza.<\/p>\n<p>El nivel de experiencia y calidad del personal (estacional), la sostenibilidad y el grado de crecimiento generativo son, por tanto, decisivos para la elecci\u00f3n que finalmente haga el agricultor.<\/p>\n<h2>Sostenibilidad del material de las pinzas para tomates<\/h2>\n<p>La mayor\u00eda de las pinzas se utilizan una sola vez y acaban en el cubo de la basura despu\u00e9s de una temporada. Tambi\u00e9n existe una pinza para tomates fabricada con material biodegradable reciclado, que ya se ha probado con \u00e9xito.  El precio de compra es (todav\u00eda) m\u00e1s elevado, pero los costes de eliminaci\u00f3n de residuos son menores.  Prevemos que en el futuro, especialmente en los mercados europeos, el porcentaje de clips biodegradables ser\u00e1 cada vez mayor.
