Hortus Supplies in Mexico: New opportunities, Valuable contacts, and an impressive journey

In March, a small team from Hortus Supplies went on a productive trip to Mexico. They traveled to Querétaro to attend Greentech Americas event as an exhibitor. This exhibition is the leading event for new technologies in the horticulture sector in Latin America, offering a unique opportunity to meet leading suppliers in the industry – and we were ready to make the most of it!

Greentech Americas: A Networking Opportunity

During three eventful days in Querétaro, we engaged with almost 50 potential clients, many of whom showed strong interest in our Coco products. These products generated significant attention, which has us excited about the potential in this region. The exhibition was not only a fantastic opportunity to meet growers and suppliers but also allowed us to inform students and other visitors about what we do and how we contribute to sustainable horticulture practices.

Seminar on Water Management

During the exhibition, Thijs also attended a seminar on the importance of water storage and purification, presented by two important partners of Hortus Supplies International, Genap and Van der Ende Group. This seminar provided valuable insights and reinforced how crucial sustainable water solutions are for the horticulture industry in the region.

Visit to Agriproductora and Chiapas

After the exhibition, we continued our journey to Poncitlán for a meeting at Agriproductora, where we had a productive discussion about future plans, including the installation of a new irrigation system. We were then given an impressive tour of their tomato greenhouses, learning more about their innovative methods.

The journey took us next to Tapachula, where we were warmly welcomed by Reiner, the owner of Chiapas. Chiapas has been a loyal customer of Hortus Supplies since the very first start, more than 20 years ago. We had the incredible opportunity to explore his coffee production, cocoa plantations, and the impressive Phalaenopsis and Anthurium greenhouses. Reiner enthusiastically guided us through his operation, and it was clear how passionate he is about his work. After a delicious lunch, we headed back to our hotel to rest before catching a flight back to Mexico City for more client visits.

Knowledge and New Business Opportunities

Our time in Mexico was not only a chance to forge valuable contacts but also to learn. We visited Flor y Miel, and Yeca Flora, where we received an in-depth course on sanitation guidelines and learned more about their Geranium propagation process. We were impressed by the professionalism and knowledge these companies apply in their work.

Conclusion: a successful trip

Our trip to Mexico was incredibly productive and not only opened new business opportunities but also provided valuable insights into the horticulture sector in Latin America. We are excited to continue building the relationships we established and to support more companies in the region with our sustainable solutions.

At Hortus Supplies, we remain committed to offering innovative and sustainable solutions for the global horticulture industry. We are proud of the opportunity to assist businesses in Mexico and Latin America with our products and expertise. We are already looking forward to our next trip and the possibilities ahead!
